Cortney Hill
Cortney Hill is a storyteller. Raised on the south side of Chicago, he’s been creating narratives through video since middle school. While attending Knox College, Cortney spent six months studying in Beijing, China where he documented his daily experience including a two-week hiking trip across Southern China. Cortney earned his BA with a double major in Political Science and Business. His passion for stories increased during that time when he joined Live Lit Storytelling Club and won his first competition. Since he has loved listening and attending storytelling events.
Cortney was received a Fulbright Award to spend a year teaching English to Malaysia in 2018. During his time in Malaysia, he continued filming and documenting his experience as well as teaching students how to do the same. They created a radio show to help students practice their English in a fun way and learn the art of storytelling.
Since returning to Chicago in 2019, Cortney completed a summer Production Institute course at the University of Chicago, and started his freelance video career. He has had the opportunity to work with his favorite artist Hebru Brantley. Cortney has also returned to his childhood stomping grounds of the U of C Lab School to work as a teacher and coach.
Cortney is a son, brother, and friend and wouldn't be who is without the amazing people around him.
