Candace Plattor


Candace Plattor, M.A., R.C.C. is the author of two award winning books, Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Top 10 Survival Tips for Loving Someone with an Addiction, and Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Workbook, and knows from personal experience what it means to be an addict. Within a year of being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 1973, she found herself in the throes of prescription drug addiction, which included such medications as Valium, Codeine and Demerol. She also gradually became addicted to marijuana, becoming a daily pot smoker.

 

After more than 14 years of abusing substances, Candace reached “bottom” in 1987 and began her journey of recovery and self-discovery. She currently enjoys 29 years clean and sober.

 

Candace’s books have both won several International Book Awards and USA Book Awards, and are currently used in a variety of treatment programs throughout North America.

 

Candace graduated from Adler University with a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology, in 2001. For over 25 years in her private practice in Vancouver, Canada, she has been helping addicted clients as well as their loved ones understand their addictive behaviours and make healthier life choices, offering them the option of in-person sessions or Telephone Counselling/Skype for clients who do not live in the Vancouver area.
